  • GOODBYE FLAT 16D

2 Sundays ago (14/Jan) my cousin and his son helped me move home. When I moved from Flat 8B to Flat 16D in May 2003, my belongings, including 1 bookshelves and 1 computer desk, only occupied one van. This time my cousin ordered a 3.3 tonne lorry for me! Ha ha ha!!!

The frame of my bed! LOL! And so much rubbish underneath it!

My best friend J is getting her own flat and she has inherited some of my things. I am so glad she did because we had fewer items to move! Ha ha!

I waited in the streets while my cousin and his son moved my stuff down. I really had so much stuff ha ha ha!

I sat at the front seat to direct the lorry drive to my new place. Never sat in a lorry before until then. Ha ha!

    YESTERDAY

I finally handed the keys back to my stupid landlady yesterday evening. It felt like a phase in my life had just gone. I was not sad, but rather I was very excited to move on. But still I felt a little sad leaving Flat 16D. I had spent 3.5 years here afterall. It struck me the other day that I won't be living by myself until jkpiggy dies or something. Ha ha!

On Sunday I asked my part-time maid to clear out the flat, including mopping up dust. Flat 16D seemed so big suddenly.

    Au revoir!

  • Remember the birthday present I got from my girlfriends?

    giftcert

I also forgot about it too. Luckily I remembered several days ago, before it expires!

The gift certificate is for a facial at The Oriental Spa of Mandarin Landmark. When I arrived I was greeted and had my shoes taken away and my feet slipped into slippers. Then I was shown around the premises : the typical ones like changing room, shower, sauna, and also a jacuzzi. The best thing was the relaxation room. I didn't really have time to get wet so I put on the bathrobe and entered the relaxation room.

Lights in the room were dimmed and there were 6 beds with reading lamps and a headphone which brought spa music to my ears. The room's purpose was 100% served!

The facial itself was quite enjoyable too and my skin still feels soft now (the next afternoon). I was persuaded to purchase a tube of deep cleansing mask and I didn't after the facial lady kept criticising how poor my skin was throughout the facial. Ha ha! I was hoping maybe they would ask me to buy some kind of facial packages but no one said a word. Oh well.

When I got home I talked to jkpiggy about how good it was for half an hour. Hopefully he got the message and knows what to get me for Valentine's Day!

I guess I really am getting old. My skin is no longer smooth and I just keep putting on weight. Mannings and Watson's (local drugs stores) were both on sale last week and I got myself several boxes of Olay and Neutrogena paper masks on Thursday. I used to buy loads and didn't touch them and then ended up in the bin. Anyway I have been working hard and resting a paper mask on my face every evening since. I *think* my face feel more hydrated. Not sure though. Anyway when I'm done with these ones I'll go buy some better ones.

    steam

Side note : As a child I once saw my mum using a facial steamer like this one above. She sat at her makeup "corner" and had her whole face inside. She remained in the same position for around 15 minutes. I actually thought she was trying to kill herself by inhaling some kind of toxic gas or something. Ha ha!!

  • FEAR CAN HOLD YOU PRISONER. HOPE CAN SET YOU FREE.

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION was in tele again last night. jkpiggy and I were so excited about it, despite having watched it a dozen times before. It is really thought-provoking. I learn something new everytime I see it.

I read somewhere that the Film is like a good bottle of red - the longer you keep it, the richer its aroma.

I prefer films with a good and complete ending. Apparently the Stephen King book the film was based on has an opening ending with Red on his way to Zihuatanejo. I am so glad that director added the last scene of the film where Red and Dufresne reunited.

I guess I am like Brooks in some ways. I keep saying how I hate the Bank but I just stay here anyway. I have been institutionalised too I guess, and it is not healthy.

    borat2

We thought they would never show the Borat film here in Hong Kong but it is coming soon! OMG! We thought we were only going to see it on DVD. It will be in cinemas starting this Thursday the 1st of February. Hee hee! jkpiggy and I are big fans of Sacha Baron Cohen. I first saw him as Ali G interviewing Posh and Becks for Comic Relief back in 2001 and we laughed so hard ha ha! I am so excited! OMG! Borat is not my favourite character among SBC's creations. I prefer Ali G. Ha ha!

To HKers : I can't stop laughing at the Chinese name that they have adopted. WTF?

  • *YAWN*

Last night we had dinner with a few old friends from our London days. It was good to catch up with them. Life seemed to be treating them well. Mr J and Mr B with their respective girlfriends whom I have not got to know very well yet. Hopefully I will get to know them better. It is weird since Mr B's exgirlfriend Miss K is someone I have known since infancy ha ha! We were careful not to mention K's name in front of B's current girlfriend Miss M last night, but Miss W did it anyway! Oops!

I also found out that my good good good friend Miss W's little sister is getting married... ahead of all of us old farts ha ha ha!!! And Miss W, who broke up with a really horrible exboyfriend Mr A last year, has found new love in Mr T who is currently working on his MBA at Stanford. This means they are maintaining a long distance relationship. Hmm. Anyway ,W said she has never been happier. I reminded her that she said the same when she first started dating her exboyfriends, to which she replied, "F**k you!" but insisted that this time she is really very very happy! And I am relieved that she has finally found new love.

The funniest thing was when we asked Miss W what her new beau's Chinese name was and she forgot and she phoned the poor guy (I think it was 5am his time), woke him, and asked, "Hello baby! What is your name really?" Ha ha!

  • ANOTHER BORING ENTRY... OOPS!!!

    Image202
Our lecturer took off his jacket and everyone was like "Look at his biceps!" This New Zealander is well into his 50s but still fit and funny! Ha ha!

    Image206
jkpiggy wanted to take me to Pierre Gagnaire on my birthday but the restaurant told him that they were fully booked until 20-Jan. So we were going to have a posh dinner on Saturday. But what happened was : we had totally forgotten about it until Friday. I had been wanting to cook a lasagne for weeks and we had plans to make one last Saturday. Anyway as things turned out we stayed home and cooked instead. Very happy hee hee! I think our lasagne sheets were too long for the tray ha ha!

    Image207
This is Mr Kwok Sun, an artist who teaches art close to my old flat. Boss Gurly's ARTcubator is so much cooler, and the teachers are more pleasing to look at! Ha ha!!

Finally got some time off from school this week. And by that I mean I will be travelling to HKU twice only, compared to 4 or 5 times. Had my facial done last night, followed by dinner with Boss Gurly. Will be meeting some friends for dinner tomorrow evening. I haven't seen them since maybe June or July!!! It seems that I don't really have a social life anymore since I started my part-time course. Hm...

  • I've just been tagged by nothingnormal and I'm suppose to say 6 weird things about me. Ha ha! Ok here it goes.

    1. I sleep with an eyemask.

    2. I keep my nailclippings in a tiny antique box given to me by my late aunt. I don't do it so often now because the box is in Vancouver. But everytime I visit I will fill it up a bit. First did it when I was around 9y-o. Not sure what triggered the idea.

    3. When I am home alone, I like to jump up and down and scream for no particular reasons.

    4. I sing in the shower.

    5. I dial my old phone numbers from time to time just to see whether the number has been assigned to a new user, and who is the new user.

    6. I enjoy making up nicknames for people whose names I don't know, but I see all the time, eg. my classmates. For instance there is a fat guy who carries a Louis Vuitton bag all the time and I call him "LV Fat Guy". Or a middle-aged man whose face resembles a hippopotamus and I call him "Uncle Hippo", etc etc.

    Ha ha ha!!!

My victims (tags) : dolly_gurly, merriberry, snowyrabbit, StressFracture, kenneth_lam2, hellowingy

(And usertags on the left... first time I used this... hee hee!!)

  • DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES

Is anyone of you a fan too?

Me and jkpiggy are big big fans of DH!!! Hee hee!!! Below is what I think of this season, and contains nil spoilers.

    013
The part I loved most about the last episode was when Susan chatted with Julie towards the end. Every mum acts like Susan in a way - over protective and goes berserk from time to time over minor things. It was so so so sweet. Has anyone noticed how much Julie has grown since Season One? She is a completely different girl and she is hot!

    0606
I'm cannot see what Susan sees in Mike, besides the fact that he is hot (and in her eyes only). Honestly any reasonable person would choose Ian over Mike the current jailbird and ex-murderer. Ian is handsome, rich, successful, and most of all he is head-over-heels in love with Susan. Meanwhile Mike (IMO worse actor in DH) suffers from amnesia and does not even remember ever being Susan's boyfriend. Not to mention the fact that Susan nearly died for him when Zach Young pointed a gun at Susan in the last episode of Season One because of Mike. How stupid is she? Bloody hell! Anyway, it seems like something "happens" between Mike and Monique, as per the sexy flashback. Is Mike unfaithful to Susan before his accident? I guess not, since he actually buys her an engagement ring. OMG I am so confused!

    10
DH has one mystery per season. In Season One it was with the Young family, Season Two the Applewhites, and Season Three Alma/ Orson/ Monique. Just when everyone (myself included) though Orson has killed Alma, she returns all healthy and well and of course scheming. Her motive is clear : she wants Orson back. And she is blackmailing him with what she knows - that Orson runs over Mike months ago and his involvement with Monique's death. I can't remember the exact wording. But just a thought : Maybe it was Alma who kills Monique? And Orson runs over Mike after he finds out the Mike is one of Monique's lovers too?

    64
I feel sorry for all the crap that Bree has to go through. It seems like the scriptwriters just can't stop messing with her life. First she has a husband, Rex, who is into sadomasochistic sex, and later dies after accusing her of poisoning him. Then she gets herself a psychotic pharmacist boyfriend, George, who later kills himself. Several episodes later she abandons her evil (still?) homosexual son Andrew in the middle of no where because he sleeps with her boyfriend just to piss her off. Then she is strapped in a mental asylum. After that her daughter Danielle has a murderer boyfriend Matthew who almost kills her. And now she is married to the mystery of the season - Orson.

    5
Speaking of Andrew, where is his bum-chum Justin? Justin loves him enough to beat him up so Andrew can lie to the lawyers. Why has he been such a goody goody since his return? Is he on to something?

    0204
I sooooooooo want Carlos and Gabrielle to get back together!!!!!

    07
Tom and Lynette have the least fluctuation in their storylines. The only one was probably when crazy but not dead Nora and Kayla turns up. IMO, Tom is absolutely useless. First he quits his job to be a househusband, then he returned to work and now he is about to open a pizza restaurant with all their life savings. He is a nice guy but career-wise he is a complete loser. Hm...

Can't wait until the mystery reveals itself!!! OMG!!! Season finale in May... Why can't it come sooner?

Went all the way to HK Examination Authority in Wong Tai Sin to hand in my exam application forms for my exams this June. I came here once in 1993 when I took my Common Entrance exams for UK secondary schools. I can't believe it took me 14 years to return again. Ha ha!!

Never been to Wong Tai Sin before and things were really new to me. The MTR station was in the middle of Wong Tai Sin public housing district. The buildings looked quite old and the people in the streets looked old too.

Would love to go to Wong Tai Sin Temple next time!!

This is Professor Nigel Furey. I sat in the front row, right in front of him in the last lecture. It did not happen because I was keen to learn the gists of Company Law. I first sat happily in the 3rd row. Then this girl came and sat one seat away from me. She was so freaking annoying - kept switching pens and highlighters every second and make an awful amount of noise closing and opening caps on her pens and also flipping her notes about. I got fed up and moved away.

As you can see here Prof Furey is an old man. Throughout the lectures he kept his hand on the OHP perhaps to help him stand better. 15 minutes from the end of the last hour Prof Furey place his left hand on his stomach and said, "Oh I'd better sit down for a while! Let's have a short break everyone." He swiftly sat down and looked really pale. I thought he was having a heart attack or something. I looked around and no one seemed to care - people continue to read their notes and chat with people around them. Until a caring lady approached Prof Furey and asked whether he was alright and he said, "I must have eaten something dodgy."

    Scary!

The second lot of Land Law lectures started on Sunday afternoon. There were 2 groups for Land Law and this time HKU is putting the two together. I was reunited with some old classmates and it was great to see them again. Got 3 more evenings this week, then a short break before Evidence. Well, not really a break because I should really start revising ha ha ha!!!

  • TGIF!!!!!

    Finally!!!!!

I have had a very busy week. Been going to school every evening of the week (except Wednesday) and am still not on form yet (as in health).

Will have a busy weekend too :

    Saturday :
    1. Hand in exam application form (along with a huge sum of money) in San Po Kong
    2. Last Company Law lecture from 2:30pm to 6pm
    3. Aunt comes to inspect (or in her own words "visit") new flat at 7:30pm, followed by dinner

    Sunday :
    1. Instruct part-time cleaner to pack all belongings in old flat
    2. First of second round of lectures in Land Law from 2:30pm to 6pm
    3. Dinner with jkpiggy...?

Speaking of jkpiggy, he turned 28 today. It seems like only yesterday that he was 19, his age when we first met. I only realised last night that our birthdays are exactly 3 weeks apart! Ha ha ha! I am such a retard!

No romantic dinner for us this year - Got a date with my Company Law lecturer and 50 classmates ha ha!!!
