Had a date with Mr Minute straight after work. My cheap slip-on boots (really cheap, like HK$150 ha ha!!) were falling apart. Instead of paying HK$500 for another pair like silly-gurly did, I opted for something more economical - paying $120 to get them fix! Ha ha ha! This Silas Marner thing in me is going at full speed!

    Image067
I saw fire outside Man Yee Building. It actually doubled in size in the 2 minutes I spent waiting to cross the street.

    Image068
A really pretty X'mas tree in Statue Square!! Dad and I wanted to have dinner at Mandarin but ALL restaurants were full. So we went to the taxi stand but the queue was loooong. In the end we went to the bus-stop outside Statue Square and took a 3-minute bus-ride ha ha! Dad's second bus-ride since the 60s ha ha!

  • I had quite a busy day today.

I got up then met up with  to inspect (such a strong word ha ha) the new flat. The furnitures are slowly coming into place.

    Image044.jpg
This is our dining table. The flat looks so much bigger now that the wooden tiles are removed and the walls, etc are all in the same tone. Behind  is the shoe cabinet. By the way I was really pissed off with the McDonald's meal.  said he wanted a Fillet-o-Fish meal so I got that plus a cheeseburger for myself. After taking this photo I decided to take more. When I came back he had already eaten 75% of my cheeseburger!!!  He said, "I thought you were being generous and got me an extra burger!"

    Image045.jpg
Let me introduce you to 's baby - his 42-inch plasma tv. He cannot wait to sit in front of it night and day.

    Image046.jpg
The kitchen. Everything has been tested and are working now. Gas supply to the cooker has been connected, washing machine running, etc etc.

    Image047.jpg
Our bedroom is now carpeted. The mattresses have arrived and the bed frame should arrive on Thursday. We got two mattresses because a king size mattress cannot fit into the lifts to reach our flat ha ha!!

    Image048.jpg
is very proud of this door. I love the handle. I will take a close up photo next time.

Then off I went to school for 3 hours. Lovely!

    Image049.jpg
    Image050.jpg
Got a lift from my classmate DC to Central where I had dinner with Dad and my cousin and his family. I tested the night mode on my camphane on the way to dinner ha ha!!

    Image051.jpg
    Image052.jpg
When we were waiting to be seat we saw a bride tossing her bouquet. She dropped it on the floor and the flowers came out. No one caught the bouquet. They are all going to be spinsters for eternity ha ha! Ok not funny.

  • Spoilt... Or not really?!

had to buy 2 chairs from a shop close to my office for our new house and we had lunch together - a rare thing for us. We only have lunch together on weekdays for less than 5 times a year.

    Image036

Anyway I had Hainanese chicken rice .. *slurp*... And he had clam chowder and a boring duck shepherds pie, as printed on the menu.

It fact, it shouldn't be called shepherds pie because shepherds don't look after ducks right? For all I know :

Mash with lamb = shepherds pie
Mash with beef = cottage pie
Mash with seafood = ocean pie
Mash with duck = Oh I don't know... lake pie? Wait... that should be mash with swan meat. Where do ducks live? Bathtubs? Ha ha!!

After lunch  had to go to Smartone to pick up his free phone. Coincidentally he got a new Nokia 6288 just 2 days after I got my Nokia 7373.

As we were walking into the shop, something caught 's eyes - The new Blackberry 8100. Then he turned to me and offer to buy me a phone.

It was really tempting, and I am weak when I am tempted... So he got me a new Nokia 7390!

This is almost the same as 7373, but it has a better camera (but not as good as my old Mitsubishi and Moto V3X) and it has 3G. I immediately joined the 3G plan so I can watch news with a flat-rate package of HK$128 a month.

    nokia7390

I had to trade-in my 7373, and the total came to HK$1930 on 's bill.

I was running late for work so I thanked  and ran back to my office. I was really happy, thinking that I got a free phone again!

But then something hit me : Hang on. I still have to pay installments for my 7373 for the next 11 months!!

  • What Should I Get  for Christmas?

    The new PlayStation3?

The old favourites / essentials - ties, cufflinks, etc.?

Our usual practice is to get him a present at Christmas and a nice dinner on his birthday in January. Likewise, since my birthday is so close to Christmas, the same applies to me.

    Argh!!!

    Meanwhile... more lectures at HKU...

    Gran-ja ... Fulla with grand and great-graddaughters

A GREAT-great granny reveals how she has lived to be 120 ... by smoking CANNABIS every day.

Fulla Nayak – believed to be the world’s oldest woman – puffs “ganja” cigars and drinks strong palm wine in her cow-dung hut in India.

She lives with her 92-year-old daughter and grandson, 72, by the Indian Ocean.

Fulla said: “I don’t know how I’ve survived so long. Many relatives much younger than me have died.”

  • I spent the whole of last week with Dad until he left for his golf games on Saturday. I feel loved whenever he is around, but it is sad to see him age. *Sigh*

Being the only child I will have no one to support me when things go wrong. This is precisely why I keep stressing to my married friends to have at least 2 children or none at all. Coco believes the same too. Please people. Give your (future) child a sibling or two, or three. Let him or her grow up alone and you will end up with a weirdo like me!! (Or Coco Ha ha!!)

That said, we did have a good time. I took him on a bus ride - his first one since the early 60s when he left HK for Nothwestern Uni. Ha ha his first time in 40 years ha ha!! I think he really enjoyed himself. He said stuff like, "I didn't know there was air-conditioning on buses!" and "Is this bus a new model?" Hee hee!!!

    Image016
School started again on Friday. I am beginning to miss my old phone which has a better camera... Hmm... Anyway for the next 2 weeks I will be having lessons in Tort. The timetable is horrible - from 1-Dec to 15-Dec I will only have 3 days off school! Argh!!

    Image017
An acrobat @ HKU hee hee!!!

Went here with  and his folks on Sunday. My first boat show since birth. I didn't know such event exist until last month ha ha!! I was hoping to bump into Cheng Yee Kin at Marina Cove ha ha!!

They also bought a speedboat. Not this particularly one, but similar.

  • My dad's holiday in HK means good food to me because his friends want to let him know what he has been missing ha ha!!!

We went to Cuisine Cuisine last night and the food was soooooo good! I have been there before but never had such extravagant gourmet. *slurp*

  • Just in case I am lucky enough to get good marks in my law exams and can proceed to the next step ha ha ha... I took the required IELTS exams over the weekend. I asked around about the exam beforehand and was told not to worry. It turned out to be quite easy so I would be an idiot if I failed ha ha!! Oops I should have left that comment until I see my results!

Went with  to a nasty sushi restaurant called Meguro Sushi in Tseung Kwan O. Meguro Sushi stands next to Watami Japanese Restaurant (one of my favourite eateries) at the mall and last time we saw a long queue outside Meguro while we were queueing up for Watami.  insisted that we should go to Meguro this time. Ha ha it turned out to be a big mistake.

Despite a choice of around 100 sushis on the menu, the conveyor belt only carried less than 10 kinds of sushis, the 10 most popular ones like salmon, tamago, etc. We ordered extra sushi and they were all soso. I wish we had gone to Genki Sushi instead!!!

    (Source : http://skholla.com/images/holla/200608141814212.JPG)

We also witnessed something rather disturbing. Normally sushis are covered by plastic covers while they travel around the restaurant like in the photo above. One takes the plate off the belt, removes the plastic cover and places it next to him. But at Meguro people flicked the plastic covers off the plates before taking them off the belt!! The plastic covers either stayed on the belt or they made a second layer of cover to the next plate! Omg! It was freaking revolting!!!

    Image008

We had Chinese desserts after dinner and  ordered this mango and some red fruit drink which was disgusting. All in all it was a total bad food day for him ha ha!!!

To HKers of my generation : Why did the Govt turn Junk Bay into Tseung Kwan O?

I woke up at 7am on Saturday so I could get to the exam venue in Tsim Sha Tsui on time. I got there at 8am (exam at 8:45am) and the place was already pack with people. I never knew people were so keen to take exams ha ha! Anyway I had listening, reading and writing tests and I felt like it was primary school all over.

    Image009

I waited for  to come meet me for lunch. He told me to go to the coffee shop but I went to the bar instead and I only found out that it was a bar after I had ordered my drink. Anyway we went to a Japanese restaurant when he finally arrived an hour later.

I had Oral test on Sunday and it was really funny:

Examiner : What kind of food do people in Hong Kong like?
    Me : Um. Chinese food?
Examiner : *Waved his hand signalling me to carrying on*
Me : Oh. Like, sweet and sour pork, rice, stir fry vegetables and so on.

    Ha ha! And more...

Examiner : Do you exercise regularly?
    Me: Not really.
    Examiner : Why is that?
Me : Because I am lazy.

Ha ha ha! Omg it was total BS. Anyway it was a test to see whether I could comprehend basic English. I hope I did ok ha ha!!

Spent a lot of quality time with my family this weekend. On Saturday my aunt hosted dinner for close friends and family at Golden Leaf. It was the first time that  was introduced as my fiancee. I found it embarrassing because I haven't got the ring yet ha ha! I just didn't see it coming! On Sunday Dad and I had lunch with  and his parents and they are all visiting Vancouver next February!!  Dad also visited our new flat and he looked quite pleased. I love it when my parent(s) come visit me. I get good food and I feel loved!!

  • Last Wedding Banquet of the Year... Hopefully!!

Went to the wedding banquet of two dentists yesterday: Saw this caricature at the reception ha ha ha!!!

    Image001
    Hee hee hee!!!

    Image002
The bride's name was printed LouisA on the invitation and when I got there I saw LouisE on stage. Then when they played a video of the newly weds (kind of a standard practice here in HK) it read LouisA. Hm...

    Image004
I brought along my new phone... The camera was not as good as the ones on Motorola and Mitsubishi phones. Perhaps I should try again in a brighter location.

They also hired a guy who called himself "Zenny the Fireman" to keep us entertained. This fireman guy did all sorts of tricks with fire, including putting fire in his mouth, juggling torches while walking over a guy, juggling torches on a rope held by some male guests alla tug-of-war, creating a huge ball of fire by spitting vodka from his mouth, etc.

  • NEW PHONE

    7373

Bought a new phone today - Nokia 7373!!

You may recall that I got my pink Motorola V3x in June. I am not a techie who follows phone trends. Lately it has been showing problems like freezing, automatic shutdown, and failed microphone. I called dolly-gurly yesterday and she could not hear a word I said ha ha!!! Instead of getting it fixed, I am going to sell it instead!

I used to be a Nokia fan and would use Nokia phones only, until the day when I wanted a camphone with a better camera lens and Nokia did not have a suitable one. Anyway, 1 Mitshibishi and 2 Motorolas later later... I am back to Nokia!!
