  • MY STUPID OBSERVATIONS

The Bank's stupid poster urging us to GO GREEN whenever we could, ie. to protect the environment (and to save $) so we could attain ISO14001. Whoever designed that retarded looking mascot (that green thing with Bart Simpson-ish hairdo on the right, next to the worm) was seriously planting a joke on the Bank! Please note that I used past-tense because since we attained the ISO in 2004 everyone has been totally slacking off!!!

Walked along Des Voeux Road C. during lunch and I saw this new building with clear glass wall. I was wondering when a girl in a mini-skirt stands by the window... then are we all going to see her knickers? Hmm...

  • Our exciting dinner was at.... BURGER KING!!!!!

You have no idea how badly I was craving for a Whopper with cheese!!! In the 80s, BK were everywhere, and I used to go to the one on Des Voeux Road C. close to where Hong Kong Book Centre is now.

But soon they got driven out of business by McDonald's and by early 90s BK withdrew business from Hong Kong completely. It didn't really bother me because I was in London and the closest BK was only a stone's throw away from home.

Back in the 90s and early 00s we also had Wendy's and Jack-In-The-Box but both have left HK. We still have a handful of Hardee's but I don't think they will last very long, judging by how I can always get a seat during lunch hours in their Central restaurant.

BK returned to HK again in 2002 or 2003, but their only restaurant was at the airport's departures area, ie. I can only eat there when I am flying out! And everytime I'm visiting my parents in Vancouver I beg my dad to drive me to the nearest BK ha ha ha!!!

At last!!! We have BK at The Peak earlier this month!!! Hurray!!! Me and just couldn't wait any longer ha ha!!!

The fountain outside the shopping mall at The Peak... I remember it was musical... no? Last time I came here there was music and the water came out according to the rhythm... no? Anyway last night it was all quiet.

    I  Hong Kong!!!

How many times have I mentioned that my work is extreeeeeeemely boring?  Anyway I have been writing comments on various restaurants on http://www.openrice.com and I wrote more than 10 in the past 2 days!! Ha ha ha!! I stole photos from here and add a few words and *bam* OpenRice has a new comment!!!

My comments (all in poorly written Chinese) can be found HERE.

has decided that we should go to Maldives!!! Yay!!! He is going to sign me up for some scuba diving lessons so I can be prepared and really have a good time there! OMG! I can't wait to leave HK!!!

That said, I must stop procrastinating and get on with my diet plan... after an exciting dinner tonight!

  • Artistic-gurly is finally into FRIENDS... retardedly - 2 years after the show came off the air. Her addiction started when she bought cheap SEX AND THE CITY DVDs and was mistakenly given FRIENDS instead and she watched it anyway. I happen to have DVDs up to Season 7 (of which 6 belong to  ) and she has been treating me like a Queen ha ha ha!!! She also bought me flowers... No she does not have a crush on me!! She gave them to me because she bought them from his poor old man in Central (the story is for another time) and she could not be bothered to carry them around!

Went shopping with my friend Kat after work. But before that I went by myself to Yoshinoya for some beef on rice because I was dying from starvation. OMG their tea set is sooooo cheap - a small bowl of beef on rice + green tea for HK$14 only!

Anyway Kat decided she wanted to have Yoshinoya too so I went there twice yesterday (different location ions though). Kat likes hers with spices and it actually looked much nicer with spices!

Bought some cheap fake nails from Sasa. They looked really tacky and OMG they were sooooooo uncomfortable! I took them off after 30mins!!! As an alternative I painted my nails jet black ha ha ha! I don't think  is going to like it!

  • It was 's mum's birthday yesterday and I went to their house for dinner. They stole chef Bonnie from Chez Les Copains* to cook for them. *slurp* Food was great but excessive. We had seared tuna, bouillabaisse, foie gras pâté , lamb chop, stuffed pheasant, chocolate fondant and birthday cake! I am still feeling very full and it's already 11am ha ha!!

(By the way Evita if you are reading this: Uncle tried several times to invite himself to your romantic holiday... and even ours! He said, "Justin likes it when I'm around!" and Auntie went, "I don't think so!" And he said to , "We'll go eat good food in Tokyo together!" Anyway don't worry you won't see him in Thailand because Auntie has put a stop to it ha ha ha!!!)

The sky above Hong Kong was clear yesterday. Perhaps it was because the factories in China were shut over the weekend hence no pollution. Honestly, it has not looked so good in a long time.

I am a collector of piggy toys (for obvious reasons) and these are some of them. They were my presents to  loooong time ago! This set of toys are called 'Porkchop Collection'. They once had a shop in Causeway Bay. I wonder if it is still around?

Jake... who just wouldn't stay still!! Oh well. It is 13y-o now and apparently he is deaf in one ear... I think they said it is his right ear. I remember a loooong time ago  took his smelly sock off and we gave it to Jake. Jake sniffed it then went crazy and kept barking and jumping ha ha ha!!! Btw that was the only time I heard him bark. This dog  is incredibly quiet and well-behaved.

  • I was really ill yesterday!!!! I walked to work as usual, got myself some breakfast and I felt quite good. Then at around 9:30am I began to feel really dizzy. Even turning my head to talk to a co-worker made my head spin like I had a whole bottle of vodka. So I excused myself and went home. I tried to sleep but I couldn't. Everytime I sat up my head was spinning. It was awful. I wanted to see a doctor but I didn't want to pass out in the streets.  promised to be back by 9pm but I still could not get through to him by 10pm. I just kept crying. It was horrible. Finally he called at 10:44pm and he took me to Canossa Hospital.

<-- Btw this wasn't me. I stole this from the hospital website!

Why Canossa Hospital? First of all it is the closest hospital to home. And secondly my grandmother died there and if I was to die I would prefer to die there too. I went there once in 2003 after sniffing some chemicals for dissolving rubbish stuck down the drain.  thought I had over-reacted. But several months ago someone actually died from it! So I was really lucky!

This time the doctor said I was dizzy because the part of my inner ear which maintained balance for the body was messed up due to the flu. He gave me some pills and an injection on my bottom... ha ha! And I felt a lot better!! I took this before I was lying face down to have my shot ha ha!!

I am feeling a lot better now!! Hopefully I won't miss work this coming week, because artistic-gurly is getting jealous ha ha ha!!! FYI I missed a total of 3 days last week!

  •  caught a strong bug last week and he has given it to me. I was really ill on Wednesday. I kept blowing my nose throughout lunch and my nose + ears + head were all blocked. I wanted to wait until Thursday to see a doctor so I could ask for Thursday and Friday off ha ha ha! But at 3pm I just had to see a doctor. He said I caught the flu and gave me 1.5 days off.

I am sitting in the office now and still feeling dizzy and weak. It is only 11-ish now and I honestly don't know how I will get through the day. Planned to go on a boat trip with  + his family this Sunday but I think I will pull myself out of it.

Am facing a difficult choice.  is letting me choose our holiday destinations:

    1. MALDIVES - diving (never tried, but  is an advanced diver) + beach + sun

    2. TOKYO - shopping (  promised to pay up to a certain amount  ) + Gordon Ramsay restaurants

    Argh!!! I can't decide!!!

  • MY WEEKEND

    FRIDAY

Got my nails done after work. You may think that the colour is rather inappropriate for someone who works for a bank. But no! Our new dress code (to accommodate for the newly adjusted 25C temperature control as advised by the Government) suggests that we can come to work in 'smart casual' attire. Male colleagues who don't have to deal with customers (ie. the unimportant ones, like those in my dept) can come in without their suit jackets and ties. For me... gosh!! I have not come to work in a suit for years!!

They look nice on my hair too ha ha!!!

    SATURDAY

took me to a Thai restaurant called, ummm simply, Thai Food which is opposite Oriental 188 shopping centre in Wanchai. OMG this place has the best Hainanese chicken!!! Wwwwaaaayyyy better than Grand Hyatt and all those pretentious sh*t!!! You can order it de-boned, and every piece of chicken was soooooooooooo tender!!! OMG!!! And they had this special dip, which had (I think) vinegar, chilli, and fish sauce. Kind of like nuoc mam sauce which comes with Vietnamese springrolls, but not really. OMG OMG!!! The restaurant was tiny though, and we had to share our table with other customers but this was compensated for with the fine quality of food. Chicken aside, we also ordered fried noodles with chicken and noodles in soup with thin slices of fatty beef in satay sauce. By the way this was my third weekend of Thai food ha ha ha!!!

    SUNDAY

Watched South Park all day. I am now a fan, thanks to perverted-gurly for sending me 'Stupid Spoilt Whore'!! She is such a bad influence that girl!! (Damn it! Now my head is filled with  Stupid Spoilt Whore video playset - show the world what a slut you are~~~!!  )

left for work after brunch and I joined him and his parents for dinner at JW's California. This place gets more depressing everytime I go there. The blue light on the ceiling is supposed to be either cool or to resemble skylight, but instead it made everyone really sleepy. And the service has gone from ok to bad. Hm...

Will go to a really exciting exhibition after work!!!

I almost forgot to mention that it will be LIGHTS OUT HONG KONG tonight. Those supporting the event will have their lights switched off for 3 minutes from 8:00pm to  8:03pm. I'm not sure where I will be tonight, but I will definitely participate if I happened to be home.

Pollution is a grave problem here in HK. On most days our famous Victoria Harbour is coated with smog. Reportedly, the pollution comes from factories in Mainland China which have little to do with environmental protection. We do get fresh air twice a year - when Chinese workers have their week-long breaks for Labour Day and National Day!

  • THE MAGNITUDE OF TYPHOON PRAPIROON

Reportedly, PRAPIROON is the God of Rain in Thailand.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EEbrAA50EI
Watch until the end and you will see a woman got knocked down by a flying rubbish bin! It was that bad yesterday!

This bin was lucky not to get blown  away. But look at the carcasses of broken umbrellas! They were everywhere yesterday!

From Apple Daily. See why we should carry proper umbrellas rather than foldable ones - they are just not strong enough!

    Look at this! Bent umbrella!

As things turned out, I was not the only one criticising the HK observatory's decision for keeping typhoon signal no.3 when the wind was obviously endangering lives.

    From The Standard:

According to Observatory senior scientific officer Sandy Song, typhoon signals are determined by mean wind speeds. As wind speeds fell within 41 to 62kmh in the city, officials at the Observatory felt there was no need to raise the No8 signal - unlike Macau, which uses the same warning system.

In response to the complaints, the Observatory will devise a better system that will improve methods of determining typhoon signals.

"The trouble lies in the difference of wind distribution throughout Hong Kong," Song said.
